Training?

The First Annual Voirol Family Vacation brought me to Salida, Co - can you say Monarch Crest? I thought you could. Brother in-law Andrew did great on the Trance which meant I took the singlespeed. It hurt at first (that pesky first 15oo ft) then settled down quite nicely- settled with a 6000+ decent! Monarch Crest to Silver Creek Trail (Rainbow next time).

31.63 miles

5:15 time

2430 ft ascent

6164 ft decent

Max. Elevation- 12,009 ft

Min. Elevation- 7469 ft

Nice little training ride (should really start training)in anticipation for the 24 Hours of Afton at the end of August.

Back to the Bike

Fish Hook Lake in the background about 5 miles into a 29 mile slog through the mountains just northwest of Steamboat Springs, CO. I think I only have about 50 out of the 150 mosquito bites at this point and am feeling pretty good. My GPS recorded 6332 feet of climbing for the day- no wonder I felt a bit cooked afterward. 6332 is completely inaccurate- but that's for another rant.
I was seeking an Epic Day (ride request from Orange Peel bike shop in town) as a goodbye and hello of sorts for life at the moment. Thought about Francine and Shannon while gazing at a few more lakes like the one shown and Francine especially at a pond full of croaking frogs. Perhaps that would have been her next vocal experimentation?
Where does one go from here?
